Wakabayashi @ 13:20. Damn you just know the MCs love this group.
Thanks so much
Thank you!
Woah these 3 eps really make me cry, first keyakizaka campaign and now this. Ganbatte keyaki and hinata !!!
the sub makes me even more confused ._. afaik, so many parts mistranslated. I hope masssterchief will back subbing hinata’s show
so it isn’t just me.
Thanks for the sub btw
The subber already said It’s not a perfect sub, for me it’s still okay rather than we got no one going to translate this ep. Mistranslated every subber does it. Must thank her/him.
Yup, she’s already stated it’s not perfect so if anyone can correct her mistakes, just contact her directly on her twitter, please. Commenting here won’t do anything because she might not read it. Use nice words, don’t be offensive… we do not want to discourage new subber who just wanted to help.
At the same time, we must also encourage enforcement of high standards, otherwise your audience will misunderstand what’s being said — and possibly repeat those mistakes elsewhere.
I’m a Nikkei so am fine up to about 5th-grade… but kanji, slang, and other native-centric terms need a JDM-fluent translator that’s either fluent in English to the near-native level, or a Nikkei who also speaks and writes at near-native JDM level — within reason of course.
But when gobbledy-gook-Google Translate-ese is printed at the bottom of your fave fansub… it’s not helping, no matter how fast it gets posted — because it’s not what they’re saying.
Will see if this comment stays up or gets wiped like my more terse prior comments… but the sentiment is the same: if you can’t cook, don’t expect people not to object to your food.
Most people rather having machine translated sub than not being translated at all like during 2015-2016 Keyakake episodes. Over time, people who knows Japanese help out with properly translating it. If there’s a better sub, of course this vid will be replaced but there’s none at the moment.
I think the first part was fine. Maybe because it was such an emotional series once it’s over you relax and notice the mistakes on the second part. Anyway you should go to the guy’s twitter and scream at them. I already did. They say they understand and try harder. One person giving feedback is not enough though so make sure you tell them what they did wrong. They want that brutal honesty.
Thanks Anon., wilco…
I can vouch for Aya, I would rather have imperfect subs out fairly quickly, than wait a couple weeks for a perfectly translated episode to come out.
@Uso, I get what your saying, but that is a very elistist and entitled mindset, in this case regarding subs. These people, and every subber out there, are taking time out of their lives to subtitle episodes, in which they can share with other fans to watch and enjoy together.
If maintaining standards is elitist, count me in… and trust me dude, I’m the furthest thing from entitled you’ll ever meet.
Nowhere did I say the *intent* was at fault, I show love for subbers too — the competent ones.
If you’re going to take all this precious time to translate and publish — pls do it closer to right than GT, as I want to know what they’re saying now — all of it — not next week. Masssterchief did this just fine so such lofty heights are not impossible. This product though is barely acceptable and could use, as mentioned above, some brutal honesty… which’ll be echo’d on that Twitter, trust me…
It’s exactly the same as going to the ER for a fractured leg… and some 1st-yr intern in reception telling you — promptly — that you have a leg rash instead. BTW, it’s on the house. Not helping.
Thanks for your input.
May I interrupt too?
I’ve seen the comments and here’s my thoughts.
Well, as you may know, I’m one of the subber and as a fellow subber, I must say this one is quite disappointing but good enough to be appreciated. Why? because mistranslation can lead people to a wrong way. I’ve tried to talk and offered a help when she said she doesn’t understand some parts, but it seems she didn’t bother about it.
I don’t know if she haven’t read my tweet or don’t want me to join the bandwagon.
Some of you might say, “it’s better than nothing.”
I can’t say I’m agree or disagree with this statement.
However, I think we must appreciate her will, it’s not an easy task to make a sub. You can have a try.
What I want to say is, she’s doing it voluntary and I think none of you have the rights to get mad at her. Help her to grow, that’s better than complaining all day long.
I visit her Tumblr and I watch her video on Tumblr that about Bomber E. on that I didn’t see any errors. but What I noticed from hiragana oshi ep 49 she did a good job already, but for this ep really disappointed, but I did appreciate her, you’re right, because of she willing to volunteer we can’t complaining unless help her to grow up. I noticed in this ep she giving credit to someone but on the previous ep, she didn’t mention it?? so I was thinking, that’s mean she didn’t do this alone. someone helping her out.
